Greener cars are becoming more and more popular both among the driving public and with professionals within the automotive business. From being ridiculed on car shows and in car magazines, green cars are now seen as part of the future for the car industry.
Underlining this new trend is the recent accolade given to a zero-emission car at the 2011 New York International Auto Show where the Nissan LEAF was named the 2011 World Car of the Year. The LEAF is a 100-percent electric car, and being a 5-seater, 5-door hatchback it?s a car produced with the mass-marked as its target. The Nissan LEAF has a range of over 100 miles on a full charge according to Nissan themselves and it takes 8 hours to recharge using 220-240V power supply.
The Nissan LEAF is currently available in Japan, the US and some European countries including the UK but will be released in other global markets in 2012. The price on the UK market is ?23,990 which includes a ?5,000 government incentive. Depending on the electrical tariff you charge the car at it should be possible to run the LEAF for as little as 2 pence per mile masking you a massive monetary saving as well.
To try out this Nissan contact your local Nissan dealer and see whether they have it available. You might also want to try something else out while you?re there, and if you?re in the market for a used Nissan, Altrincham is one place you should be able to find a dealership.
